You are the canvas the world has been waiting for.
Eager for your artistry.
Watching and waiting for you to shine. And so have you. You’ve been anxious for your moment. Living up to this very point.
So why don’t you?
Go ahead, Shine.
It’s easier said than done.
The truth is, you were born shining. Are you still shining? Or has your light gone dim?
The first time I was told my light was dim was on a hot summer day in Dallas, Texas. I was sitting across from a mid aged therapist whom I admired. He was in between sips of sparkling water when he leaned back and stated,
“You’re a wonderful person, but for some reason you don’t think so.”
I was struck with confusion.
When did I stop thinking I was wonderful?
Have you?
You Are Wonderful
You are absolutely wonderful.
No need to look for reasons to validate this truth. Your existence alone is all the validation you need.
Now believe it! This disbelief is your dim.
Who knows how it happened. Quite frankly, I don’t believe that matters. What matters is what you believe.
What do you believe?
You can choose to believe that you matter.
That you are the canvas the world is waiting for.
That one star that will light up the entire sky.
Dare to Shine?
In a Return to Love, Marianne Williamson states…
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
I asked myself over and over again, “Why does that light frighten us?”
She continues by saying,
We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
The light is frightening because it challenges all that we know.
The light opens an endless possibility of greatness within us.
We cannot dim any longer. As much as being dim sucks, at least, we know it. It is the comfort of knowing that often out weighs the fear of the unknown.
Therefore we embrace it.
We embrace playing small.
We embrace the dim.
Shining is difficult at first. It takes practice.
It takes saying ‘no’ more to what you don’t want and ‘yes’ to what you do.
It takes getting to know what makes you smile and then making time for those things.
It takes spending quality time with your body.
Spending quality time with your thoughts. Challenging the thoughts that tell you to dim.
It takes choosing to love, instead of fear.
Shining is the door to Authenticity, and Authenticity is your Super Power.
